2009-2010 Comments

Who: Anne Bernard-Bourgeois, Learning Specialist
Comment: "Anne recently presented an excellent PD session on the District’s new anti-bullying program. She and her team did extensive research, tested the theory through pilots, and effectively presented to anti-bullying leads from each school. This initiative was well thought out, and superbly presented. It was one of the best PD sessions I’ve attended. Way to go Anne and her team!"

Who: Aricka Hurley, JMA Armstrong/Salisbury Middle
Comment: "I wanted to let you know what an outstanding job Aricka Hurley did with a small group of my students. Their writing improved greatly over the semester. Her assistance left me feeling confident that those students were receiving the support they need to succeed. I am very pleased with their results."

Who: Candace Scott, District Office
Comment: "Things are going well at the Port Elgin School Health Centre. We were a little short on manpower today, however Candace Scott graciously offered to put on her coveralls and steel toe boots and head-on down to help our lead carpenter – Graham Allen install 4 feet x 12 feet sheetrock panels on the studded walls."

Who: Darrel Baxter, Port Elgin Regional School
Comment: "Darrel goes a giant step above and beyond his daily routine at port Elgin Regional School! Each day Darrel eats his lunch with the K-4 students. He enjoys eating, chatting and teaching the children how to properly clean up after themselves. The students look forward to eating with Mr. Baxter and running into him throughout their day. As a staff, we applaud you Darrel!"

Who: Dawn Jessome, Riverview Middle School
Comment: "This school year, through a research project with Mario Chiasson, RMS is embarking on a “unique learning journey utilizing the iPod Touch as a learning and teaching resource tool.” Marcel LeBlanc, Sean Terry, Renee, Hachey, Karen Horsman, and Dawn Jessome have gone above and beyond doing what is necessary to ensure they are prepared for this research project, and are committed to making it happen successfully. They have spent countless hours on professional development outside the school hours and continue to be positive and excited for this learning opportunity. They are a wonderful group of teachers and deserve to be recognized as being “caught at their best”!"

Who: Jackie Bertrand Fisher, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: "Jackie initiated a program last year which involved first year Education students from ABU tutoring our students under the supervision of Ken Menchions. This year, Ken has worked with ABU to expand the practice and Jackie gave an excellent presentation to the Resource Teachers explaining how it will work. Teachers like Jackie who actively seek out and develop opportunities for our students are great examples of District 2 at its best"

Who: Jacques Gervais, Facility Manager
Comment: "I wanted to let you know that now the repair work at Sunny Brae is about 99% complete, and what a great Job Jacques Gervais has done throughout this entire process. I emailed him as well called him yesterday, to let him know he did a very thorough and excellent job addressing our staff about the work that was carried out as well including the air testing that was done. We do not hear positives enough so I thought you should hear from me what great work Jacques did on this project as one of your managers"

Who: Lana Taylor, Gunningsville School
Comment: "Mrs. Taylor has taken on the important role of Literacy Team Leader for the entire school. She plans excellent PD opportunities, and is viewed by all staff as an expert in curriculum. She also strives to help create a positive environment for staff by organizing a variety of activities to help staff morale. Mrs. Taylor is one of the first staff members to arrive and is generally the last to leave. Her dedication to the students at Gunningsville School is outstanding."

Who: Lindsay Dominie, Harrison Trimble High School
Comment: "Lindsay, I await every assembly in anticipation to hear what you have done with our students. Their self confidence, the feeling of belonging to something, their joy in performing and knowing that the audience is standing for them, is overwhelming. I have seen our stage grow over the years, but nothing like you have accomplished. Your students adore you, so they should, and their voices are a fitting tribute to you."

Who: Mario Chiasson, Technology Mentor
Comment: "Over three years as Principal at Riverview Middle School, Mario Chiasson has been a wealth of knowledge and innovation at RMS. This school year, through a research project with Mario, RMS is part of an iPod Touch project where selected students and staff are utilizing the iPod Touch as learning and teaching resource tool. This is just one example of how Mario thinks about possible ways to help with student learning and teacher learning. Mario is also always there to help with using technology to improve staff communication throughout the school such as helping us successfully implement an online Intervention Plan; help with setting up the RMS portal, and going through the use of Office Communicator. No matter what we ask Mario, he has a solution, and always helps with a smile! Mario Chiasson has gone above and beyond helping Riverview Middle School be on the leading edge of technology and deserves to be recognized as being “caught at his best”!"

Who: Althea Lewis, Administrative Assistant, JMA Armstrong/Salisbury Middle School
Comment: "I want to let you know that your administrative staff of Althea and Rose is about the most courteous administrative staff I have ever happened to meet. They always help out and even go the extra mile when not necessary. I hope the staff and students appreciate that they have “two real gems” in their midst."

Who: Teri Mueller
Comment: "At West Riverview School, parents and students were very excited to be receiving a climbing wall after much planning and fundraising. Over the summer Bev Franklin, the art teacher, Nathan Taylor, the Physical Education teacher, and Teri Mueller, a parent, gave of their time to paint a beautiful mural on the newly installed climbing wall. What a treat it must have been to see the children’s faces as they returned to school"

2008-2009 Comments

Who: Kathy Dunn, Bessborough School
Comment: "Mrs. Dunn is the driving force behind Bessborough School's breakfast and lunch programs. This fall, she initiated a program to insure that all students had access to breakfast and lunch at school. She secured funding to start the program, regularly serves breakfast and lunch, and on weekends prepares nutritious lunches that students can heat up if they have forgotten or do not have a lunch. Thanks to Kathy Dunn and the volunteers she arranged, no students at Bessborough have to learn on an empty stomach. Thank you for making a difference for so many children."

Who: Steve Booth, Principal - Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: "I couldn't wait until Monday to tell you how grateful I am for your support with today's endeavor to get all K-8 art teachers together at one of our schools to share ideas, see how we operate our classrooms, discuss art theory and share best practices. Being the sole teacher of a particular subject in a school brings with it a sense of isolation in that we don't have other teachers with whom we can share and bounce ideas off of. Today, I really felt like part of a greater "art teacher community!" Since I was the host, I shared several of my most successful projects and sought advice on projects I felt needed tweaking. The input I received from my colleagues was helpful and inspiring! At one point, a more-experienced teacher went to the board and gave an impromptu lesson on perspective to a beginning teacher who finds this a daunting task to teach. I can truly say that we all benefited in one way or another from this collaborative time together and I wanted to thank you for being so supportive and allowing this to happen. We hope that we can continue on this path as the benefits to our students and our own teaching are immeasurable!"

Who: Shanda Cormier, District Office
Comment: I would like to thank Shanda for all of the hard work in pulling together the student data collection for September 30th. I appreciate the hours of extra work, the dedication to the accuracy of the report, and the collaboration it took with the schools to complete the report. Shanda has gone above and beyond my expectations!

Who: Dot Driscoll, Gunningsville School
Comment: Dot is a master teacher who has taken on the role as teaching partner for our new Grade 1 English teacher, who has moved from Immersion. Dot contributes professionally to the whole staff, and is viewed as a leader in curriculum classroom management, and school morale. Dot was eligible to retire last year, but is so dedicated to her students and Gunningsville School, that she returned for another year. We are very fortunate to have her teaching skills for another year.

Who: Debbie McLaughlin, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: Debbie McLaughlin (Grade 6 English) and Haley Taylor (student teacher from Atlantic Baptist University) worked tirelessly recently to support Mike Ivey's Oct. 31st presentation to our staff. Their efforts demonstrate true teamwork and a willingness to help out without looking for any credit for doing so. Debbie is an outstanding and experienced teacher who is showing Haley how to be the kind of staff member that every school wants and needs.

2007-2008 Comments

Who: Lena Warren, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: I started working at Queen Elizabeth School in September of this year, and from my first day, our daytime custodian, Lena Warren has been so helpful and supportive. Lena has helped me rearrange the library, and add tables and chairs (which she has scoured the school to find!). I just need to mention an idea to Lena about how we might make the library work better, and she is on the job, doing whatever she can to help out. Her helpfulness definitely makes my job easier!

Who: Lindsay Dominie, Harrison Trimble High School
Comment: Lindsay has grown the music program at HTHS and put it at the forefront of our school. Lindsay introduced "Coffee Houses" to HTHS after many years' hiatus. She has had concerts to honour our fallen Trojans, Guitar Hero competitions at noon and her room has become a hang out for many musicians in our school. Our school choir has never been stronger! Way to go!

Who: Mandy Douglas, IS Technician
Comment: Any time I'm in need of IT help, I know I can count on Mandy. She is always cheerful and willing to listen. She is very professional, quick to help and a great asset to District 02.

Who: Jill Baycroft, Birchmount School
Comment: For seven years now I have had family members attending Birchmount School. Wow! What an absolutely extraordinary school...absolutely the "Top" in regards to teaching faculty, and administration! Obviously, I am very impressed with the education my children are receiving at Birchmount! It is very unlike me to put any one person up on a pedestal! However, at this time I do want to acknowledge my sons Grade Five teacher Madame Baycroft! This is a teacher.....folks, who will leave a lasting impression on each one of her students as they progress through their education, and of course continue on their personal journey through life! Bravo to you Madame Baycroft...Good Job...Well done!

Who: Wayne Duff, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: Wayne Duff is the Custodian II at Queen Elizabeth School. He has a quiet, purposeful manner that results in efficient operation of our physical plant and positive morale for our custodial team. Wayne is always professional and a gentleman in his contacts with the teaching staff and the public – making him a great "ambassador" for our school and District 2 as well.

Who: Middle School Staff, Caledonia Regional School
Comment: Thank you for all you do to make school such and exciting, interesting, disciplined and safe environment for the kids. It was with hesitation that I dropped my son off at school on the first day last fall. He loves it there, and I have been so impressed with the teachers and staff. Thank you!

Who: Gaston Savoie
Comment: We would like to comment on what a great pleasure it was taking Gaston's bus every morning. Even when there were mix ups or delays, he was patient and pleasant. He showed the three boys respect and made them feel important, asking how their mornings went, letting them help sweep the bus. His great sense of humour and teasing always put a smile on all our faces. He takes pride in his bus and his job. Gaston is one of the best!

Who: Gabrielle O'Brien-Gaudet, Lewisville Middle School
Comment: Gabrielle goes above and beyond her duty when volunteering to organize assemblies. She does a phenomenal job with our talent show and especially memorable Remembrance Day assemblies. The students and staff expect nothing but the best as she has proven to put on a wonderfully orchestrated show every time. Thank you Gabrielle.

Who: Allen Marr, District Office
Comment: Harrison Trimble High School had to deal with a very difficult situation as a result of the accidental death of four of their students. The grieving process is not over but the role you have played along with your fellow psychologists from the School District #2 in managing this difficult situation so far is nothing less than impressive. You have made all of us proud of being a psychologist. It is often in these difficult times that our special know how is appreciated.

Who: Rebecca Steeves, Teacher, West Riverview School
Comment: Rebecca teaches Grade 5 Intensive French at WRES. She has a student in her class who suffers from severe Arthritis. Due to problems with her spine, the little girl must sit on an exercise ball to keep her spine straight. To avoid having this little one singled out, Rebecca brought in her own "ball" to sit on, and invited any students who had one at home to join in. Now most of the class is using an exercise ball to sit on. They are the coolest bunch, and the noise level in the class room is extremely low.

2006-2007 Comments

Who: Staff of Riverside Consolidated School
Comment: A parent, wishing to remain anonymous called a District Supervisor to commend the Riverside School Staff. He said their communication with parents is always prompt and they are always pleasant. The parent went on to say the staff are great at problem solving, whether there is a bussing issue or an academic one, they always do their best to help out! He says it doesn't matter what time of day it is or how difficult of a day they've had, they are always a welcoming bunch.

Who: Lorelei Harrison, Teacher, Marshview Middle School
Comment: Lorelei, a teacher at MMS put a lot of effort into the community and her school with her "War Bride" research for Remembrance Day. She coordinated the event, invited War Brides and it never stops. Just recently she invited them to a Heritage Breakfast with students on hand. Having a "War Bride" mother, I know how much it meant to these women in the community and the students who were involved.

Who: Cathy Doiron, Custodian, Riverview High School
Comment: On January 18, 2007 Cathy was finishing her shift around 11:45 PM, when she decided to go stock her cleaning cart with supplies. She discovered a broken sprinkler that froze and was leaking in a hallway next to the gym. Her quick action in contacting our on call repairman prevented the flooding of the hardwood gym floor which would have cost the Department of Education $100,000 in repairs.

Who: Jackie Bertrand, Teacher, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: What a joy to observe Jackie's introduction of her poetry unit to a challenging class of grade 8 students! Her motivation of them reached every single student in the class - even those whose learning and behaviours often require interventions. When I overheard one girl telling her classmate "This is going to be fun", and when I watched a usually difficult young man following every instruction as he searched for clues around the class, I knew I had caught Jackie at her best!

Who: Claude Gallant, Teacher, Queen Elizabeth School
Comment: Claude is a Grade 6/7 Immersion Teacher at Queen Elizabeth School. Thanks to his encouragement and support, the students in his class are holding a 12 hour Rock-A-Thon to raise money for the O'Dell children who recently lost their parents. Staying at school for 12 hours on the weekend is definitely a District 02 teacher at his best.

Who: Andrea Best, Custodian, Harrison Trimble
Comment: I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the custodial staff of Harrison Trimble High School. As you are aware, the school has undergone major renovations this summer. As a result, the school required much more cleaning than usual. Andrea Best and her crew worked tirelessly to get the school up and running for the staff and the students. During the last two weeks, many of them worked 19-20 hour days. If it was not for their strong work ethic and professionalism, we would not have been ready to open the school as scheduled. I feel honored to have such and incredible custodial staff and I believe they are "The Best" and deserve recognition. The following is a list of the custodians who are part of this tremendous team: Andrea Best, Brian Fairweather, Shelley Belliveau, Jamie Ross, Doug Henderson, Patricia Costain, Ray Dupuis, Walter Waycott, Sonia Mazerolle. Special thanks to Pat LeBlanc and Kevin Trimble. These two gentlemen are casual employees of District 2. Their commitment to the school is second to none and I would not hesitate to have them as regular members of the HTHS team.

Who: Mario Chiasson, Technology Mentor
Comment: Mr. Chiasson has provided me with ongoing support over the past two years. He was instrumental in assisting me to complete all seven Technology Domains from our portal. Mr. Chiasson's enthusiasm is contagious!

Who: Lea Pelletier, Teacher, Evergreen Park
Comment: Mrs. Pelletier is raising the bar for other teachers to meet. She taught my son, he was transferred from Petitcodiac School and into French Immersion here at Evergreen Park School, then again transferred into English and we weren't sure how he would recover from all of the transferring around and how he would settle in. He did great with A LOT of help from Mrs. Pelletier (and Mrs. Boyd) and he couldn't have done it without her! Thank you Mrs. Pelletier! We need more teachers like you!

Who: Tami VanWart, Vice-Principal, Harrison Trimble
Comment: Tami has spent many hours during the month of August to help get Harrison Trimble High School ready, while we all put time into our jobs in August. Tami certainly went above and beyond to insure HTHS had a smooth opening. Her dedication to our school is certainly appreciated by all those involved in the HTHS community.

Who: Carol Jackson, Secretary, Queen Elizabeth
Comment: This morning, Carol Jackson reported for work 2 hours ahead of schedule to assist with the many issues that the first morning of school entails and she stayed after her assigned hours as well. She happily volunteered her time and talents to help all of us get off to a great start. Her unselfish attitude represents District 2 at its finest - putting the needs of children and parents ahead of our own.

Who: Joanne MacAulay, Teacher, Birchmount
Comment: As I walked away from the classroom, I asked myself, "as to what purpose?" There was no evidence of a holiday, birthday or special occasion to be celebrated. After a week with 25 kids at her feet (on a Friday after school no less), she throws a pizza party, with a movie too! So here I go again...think, think, think, wrestle, wrestle, wrestle. Someone in this world had a little more than someone else, and chose to find the energy to share; so, I do see that there was indeed something to be celebrated!

2005-2006 Comments

Who: Eileen Lewis, Teacher Assistant, Forest Glen
Comment: Eileen is a Teacher Assistant at Forest Glen School. She is the eiptome of school spirit. She is always ready to volunteer and takes an idea and away she goes! Her willingness and enthusiasm for our school shows in everything she does. Her latest - teaching the students our school song. Her sense of caring and great fun keeps us smiling. Eileen is a great tiger!

Who: Darrell MacAuley, Bus Driver
Comment: On Thursday, October 29, 2005, Darrell MacAuley presented Beaverbrook School with a bus evacuation drill. Mr. MacAuley was throrough and precise when presenting to the students. I was very pleased to se how he spoke to the students. The students showed great interest in Mr. MacAuley's presentation by remaining calm, having eye contact, and asking important questions. Mr. MacAuley showed great knowledge of his profession and I feel that he is a fantastic School Bus Driver. Way to go Darrell! Keep up the good work.

Who: Chad Dominie, Teacher, JMA/Salisbury Middle
Comment: I would like to gratefully acknowledge the recent generosity of one of your teachers, Mr. Chad Dominie of JMA/Salisbury Middle School. This past Remembrance Day, Mr. Dominie was kind enough to give up his day to drive to Salisbury to participate in the November 11 ceremony. For the past few years, services in Salisbury have relied on a tape recording to play Reveille and the Last Post. Being the "Year of the Veteran", it was particularly nice to have the real thing - Mr. Dominie did a wonderful job on the trumpet and his music was highly appreciated by all in attendance. As a citizen of the area, I would like to recognize Mr. Dominie's contribution on this important occasion.

Who: John Bauer, Teacher, West Riverview
Comment: Standing in line at Sobey's after the first day of school, I overheard a girl telling her Mom what an awesome day she had at her new school. I asked which school and she told me her teacher was Mr. Bauer at West Riverview. He encouraged them to "set sail for math" with a big "Ahoy Mateys!" She just moved here from Nova Scotia and she's very exited!

Who: Lois Budd, Custodian, Havelock
Comment: Lois is my janitor at Havelock School. When the buildings were being set up after the movers were done their job, Lois took on this enormous task. She worked tirelessly at getting rooms ready, mobiles set for teachers, etc. Lois is a dedicated hard worker who makes my job easier each day. She knows how to take responsibility and carry out her job. In our move she was the rock who did beyond her job. I'm so glad to have her here!

Who: Alvin Gallant, Teacher, Magnetic Hill
Comment: Alvin organized Magnetic Hill's very first Terry Fox run. Alvin didn't just get the students to run - he organized a teaching theme around it. He showed the younger students a PowerPoint presentation on Terry Fox and then used his grade 8 math class to give a visual representation of just how far Terry Fox ran by relating it to our school walking path. I was extremely impressed with Alvin's presentation and the manner in which he interacted with the younger students!

Who: Moncton Alterative Education Site Staff
Comment: This small school setting provides great teachers, listeners and public education. It also enables the students to become responsible members of our society. Thank you to Miss Beverly Blanchard who always has a kind word and smile for every student who enters her school door daily, and Mr. Mark Rickard, in helping the students to understand how important their school work is, also the news in our everyday surrounding areas. Special thanks to Mr. Nathan MacDonald for his teaching, listening, guidance, patience and understanding of each and every individual student. You are an exceptional teacher.

Who: Darlene Taylor, Secretary, Forest Glen
Comment: Darlene is dedicated, hard working and great with staff and students. This fall, she has worked long hours with a smile - we could not have a better school secretary. She chose us, and we are thankful. Thank you for the million tasks you do for all of us each and every day.

Who: Jacques Gervais, Facilities Manager
Comment: Jacques has been very supportive in helping us prepare for the grand opening of our park last week. He is very good at what he does and aims to please. Please pass along a thank you from our school community to him and his facilities team for their continued support.

2004-2005 Comments

Who: Janet Steeves (Bus Driver)
Comment: Janet drives Bus #21. When she was away for two days, she notified the school and left the name of the spare driver. She also gave the driver instructions regarding the safety and care of our students. Her thoughtfulness was appreciated.

Who: Wendy Paige (Secretary, Caledonia Regional High)
Comment: Every morning no matter how busy she is, Wendy Paige greets the students and staff with a big smile and a cheerful good morning! Many mornings I have come in after a hectic, long drive and Wendy's smile always cheers me up and gets me smiling!

Who: Todd McKillop (Teacher, Harrison Trimble)
Comment: On Tuesday, January 4th, Todd led an extremely informative discussion on the disaster due to the Tsunami. The students asked many questions and some were not aware of all the tragedy that was left behind. I was very impressed and the feeling the students were left with was 'what can we all do to help these victims'!

Who: Rosalyn Flanagan
Comment: Rosalyn Flanagan is our Literacy Support Specialist. In addition to the excellent job she does day to day, Rosalyn organized two super Home and School meetings. The meetings were in the form of 'Make and Takes' for the parents. The two projects were a retell cube and a graphic organizer. The parent turnout was great and the parents really enjoyed it.

Who: Linda Maxwell
Comment: I thought it might be a welcome change for you to receive a note depicting some positive energy happening at Queen Elizabeth School. I have been a casual employee at District 2 for four years. I have worked for the Royal Bank of Canada, Statistics Canada, Parks Canada, and Air Canada. In my working history I have seldom seen the leadership skills demonstrated by Linda Maxwell at Queen Elizabeth. Linda seems to have an innate ability to instill in her co-workers initiative by creating a supportive and healthy work enrivonment. Queen Elizabeth is truly a school where all employees and volunteers pull together as one team, creating a superb learning environment. I consider supply teaching at QE to be both a privilege and a pleasure.

2003-2004 Comments

Who:Fred Veysey (Teacher, Riverview High)
Comment:I worked at Riverview High School from January 5th-9th. Mr. Veysey greeted me warmly every day and on my last day surprised me by saying "today is your last day, we'll miss you". What an exuberant, joy-filled man. A real ray of sunshine. If only one could clone him.

Who:Lisa Young (Interventionist, Edith Cavell)
Comment:Lisa has been my class interventionist for the past 10 weeks. Lisa has always put the students first and has captured their respect and affection. Not only has the intervention proven to be very successful but Lisa has also proven to be a wonderful asset to my classroom on so many other levels. Thanks for a job well done and for being a huge all-round help for a first year teacher.

Who:Al Haggart (Teacher, Bernice MacNaughton High)
Comment:I caught Mr. Alan Haggart, Math guru at BMHS, at his best the weekend of midterm exams. Mr. Haggart provided extra help all throughout the weekend to Grade 10 and 11 students requiring assistance prior to the Monday a.m. Math exam. The schedule of his availability was such that students could take the opportunity to get help needed beginning Friday night, January 23rd and ending on Sunday, January 25th. As a parent, he has far exceeded my expectations, by devoting his precious free time to helping our future citizens, guiding them to better equip and prepare them in not only writing a midterm but demonstrating important life-skills. He is a much valued teacher at our school. The opportunity to catch Mr. Haggart is submitted with appreciation that he is one of our very best at BMHS.

Who:Dick Goodwin (Assistant Transportation Manager, District Office)
Comment:Havelock School had planned a Middle School Team trip but it got cancelled due to school cancellation. I thought I had rebooked it but on the day of our trip I called to check the driver's name and Dick told me the trip was not rebooked. He then proceeded to get me a driver for the trip. The end result was my students had their trip. Dick has always worked hard to support my school. I can't thank him enough for his support.

Who:Isabel LeBlanc (Principal, Uplands School)
Comment:I was called in late to Uplands School to replace a sick secretary and though there was lots of work awaiting me, the Principal took the time to show me around the school and to make me feel part of 'the family'. That school has a warmth about it that other schools lack. With people like Ms. LeBlanc at the helm, I cant't see that changing any time soon. She's super!

Who:Colleen Bourgeois (Teacher, Bernice MacNaughton High)
Comment:About a week ago, Mrs. Bourgeois helped me with my Social Studies test and that's not all, she stayed after school on the Friday of the long weekend to help me type up my Writing project. It's nice to know your teacher wants you to pass. She is a really good teacher! I'm glad I have her for a teacher.

Who:Ron Scott, John Matson, Jacques Gervais, and Candice Scott (Facilities & Maintenance Department)
Comment:Ron Scott, John Matson, Jacques Gervais and Candice Scott braved snow, rain, high winds and bitter cold on Friday, November 14th, as they worked to prepare our new student drop-off zone. Their commitment to completing the task at hand is a tribute to the diligent (and often under-appreciated) members of our Maintenance Department.

Who:Heather Wood (Literacy Specialist)
Comment:Heather was our literacy specialist at Riverside Consolidated School until the end of October. She really went out of her way to provide tips, literature and ideas to help with the literacy objectives in the classroom. Any time I asked - even in passing - about something, she promptly produced articles or materials within a day. She was a tremendous help - especially for a new teacher.

Who:Chartwells Staff (Hillborough Elementary/Caledonia High)
Comment:In the cafeteria that services both Hillsborough Elementary and Caledonia High School, I would like to commend Chartwells for their NOW Meals! Each meal this year is served with a side of fresh green salad or fruit. This contribution to support a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE for our students is appreciated.

Who:Natalie Langille (Teacher, Evergreen Park)
Comment:My nine year old daughter is in grade 4 at Evergreen Park School. These can be trying times for students as well as teachers, but there is always someone out there to shine their light. Natalie Langille is one such person, one such special teacher. She takes special moments with the children individually which she refers to as "praise time". This gives Chelsey a wonderful feeling of being very special. She thinks that Mrs. Langille is very special. She loves school and Mrs. Langille is a big part of that. Teachers too need to know that they are appreciated and respected for the job that they do. Thank you for this opportunity to share.

Who:Dan Eadle (Custodian, JMA Armstrong/Salisbury Middle)
Comment:Dan is our daytime custodian. He is awesome! He cares about the kids; he is the "extra" duty adult in our building and is always pleasant and helpful. No matter who asks him for help, he stops what he is doing and carries out the request, always cheerfully.

Who:Kathy Hunter (Teacher, Forest Glen)
Comment:Kathy has introduced the world of rocks and minerals to our daughter Danielle. Our child has brought her new knowledge and enthusiasm home. Together we have watched salt crystals grow and searched for fossils. We have examined rock formations. Many thanks to this wonderful teacher who has made science fun, and part of our everday world.

Who:Don Henderson (Guidance, Riverview Middle)
Comment:Mr. Henderson, guidance counselor, was very instrumental in getting the breakfast program started at RMS. The program started the end of October and is running very smoothly. Breakfast is available 5 mornings a week and there are many students taking advantage of it. Don is there helping out every morning.

Who: Linda Deware (Executive Assistant to the Superintendent)
Comment: Linda demonstrates an overall great, professional conduct. Actually, I would like to have [made this comment] 8 years ago when Linda was at Edith Cavell and 5 years ago when she was at Lewisville and again, today at the district office. When Linda is at the helm, I am confident that everything is under control (and it is!!).

Who: Ken Frost & Sharon MacIntyre (Principal & Vice Principal, Birchmount)
Comment: Birchmount Fall Fair - being jailed, cooking hamburgers, running booths, working Friday night and most of Saturday, October 3rd and 4th, to help Birchmount Home and School host an extremely successful Fall Fair.

Who: Bernie Cormer (District Office, Front Desk) Comment: Bernie always goes out of his way to help. Always smiling. Helps by lifting our spirits when we are down.

Who: Allen Marr & Nancy Matthews (Education Supervisors)
Comment: Both individuals did an outstanding job at presenting to the DEC on Sept. 24th, 2003. Presentations were concise and very informative. It was clear that each individual is passionate about their specialty area. Bravo!

Who: Earl Kinnear (Bus Driver)
Comment: He has been driving us to school and home from school every day so far this year. Earl every day has opened the bus doors with a "good morning" and let us off the bus with a "have a good day". Driving the bus mustn't be the best of jobs but Earl makes it seem like he loves it.

Who: John Grimmer (Teacher)
Comment: John is a teacher at HTHS and a Wellness Chair for teachers in the District. He had an idea in the Spring for a Wellness Fair and Coffee House and made it a reality. By all accounts it was successful and well attended. John led the charge on all fronts to see his idea through from start to finish. Congratulations to John for going the extra mile for his fellow teachers across the district. Way to go!
