The Youth Apprenticeship Program represents an innovative approach to preparing youth for employability in a rapidly changing and global economy. The program reflects a multi-level, collaborative partnership involving secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, government, business organizations and New Brunswick employers. The YAP provides youth with an opportunity to experience the "world of work" and expand their knowledge of essential employability skills as outlined by the Conference Board of Canada.

The YAP operates within a 14-month period, outside the regular school time calendar and is divided in two distinct phases.
Phase I operates from early June to December and Phase II from January to the end of August
Mandatory components for the students of the Youth Apprenticeship Program are the employability skills workshops coupled with a paid work term in each of the two Phases.
